Eco-Friendly Pest Control

Eco-Conscious, Pet-Friendly Pest Control Where It Makes Sense

Eco-friendly pest control doesn't mean ineffective. It means using the most targeted product at the right place and time — and skipping any treatment that isn't actually necessary. The most environmentally responsible pest control is also usually the most effective: less product, in the right places, with prevention recommendations that reduce the need for future treatments.

Apollo Pest Control considers eco-conscious and pet-friendly options whenever they are appropriate to the situation.

Our Approach

  • Inspection first. We treat the actual cause, not just the symptom. That alone reduces unnecessary product use.
  • Targeted application — bait stations, void treatments, crack-and-crevice — instead of broad spraying.
  • Lower-impact products where they will solve the problem.
  • Mechanical and physical solutions — trapping, exclusion, sealing — instead of chemical-only approaches when they will work.
  • Prevention guidance you can act on yourself, reducing future treatments.
  • Honest assessment — if a treatment isn't actually needed, we'll tell you.

What "Eco-Friendly" Actually Means in Practice

There is no universal "green" pest control label, and we are cautious about marketing language that suggests otherwise. What we can do, with most pest issues, is:

  • Choose the lowest-toxicity product that will solve the problem
  • Apply only in the locations where the pest actually is
  • Use bait stations and void treatments instead of broadcast sprays where appropriate
  • Combine treatment with exclusion so future treatments aren't needed
  • Skip treatments that don't actually move the needle on the issue

When Stronger Treatments Are Still Right

For some situations — active wasp nests near entrances, structural carpenter ants, severe rodent activity, established cockroach populations — the most responsible choice is a focused conventional treatment combined with exclusion work. The goal in those cases is still the same: solve the problem in as few visits as possible, with as little ongoing product use as possible.

We'll always explain why before we recommend it.

Pets and Children in the Home

We'll talk through any specific re-entry or re-occupancy guidance for the treatment we're recommending. Some treatments dry within an hour or two and pose minimal risk afterwards; others require longer exclusion times. We tell you exactly what to expect.

If you have specific concerns — pet allergies, an infant in the home, a household member with chemical sensitivities, fish tanks, reptile enclosures — let us know before the visit and we'll adapt the plan.

What You Can Do to Reduce Future Treatments

The most "eco-friendly" thing we can do is reduce how often you need us. A few prevention habits make a big difference:

  • Seal pet food and bird seed in containers
  • Keep garbage and compost bins sealed and rinsed
  • Trim vegetation back from exterior walls
  • Address moisture issues — leaks, condensation, damaged caulking
  • Check and repair crawlspace vent screens, garage door seals, and attic vents
  • Inspect used furniture before bringing it inside
  • Store dry goods in sealed containers

We'll point out the items that matter most for your specific property during the visit.
