Pest Inspections

Not Sure What Pest You Are Dealing With?

Sometimes the first step is simply figuring out what is happening. You may hear scratching in a wall, see droppings in a cupboard, notice large ants near a window, find insects in a pantry, or see wasps entering a gap near the roofline.

Apollo Pest Control provides pest inspections for homes, rental suites, small landlords, restaurants, cafés, and small businesses. An inspection helps identify the pest, assess the activity, and recommend the right next step.

When a Pest Inspection Makes Sense

A pest inspection may be helpful when:

  • You are not sure what pest is present
  • Pest activity keeps returning
  • You hear noises in walls, ceilings, or attics
  • You find droppings, damage, or nesting material
  • You see ants, but are unsure whether they are carpenter ants
  • You suspect bed bugs but have not confirmed them
  • You find insects in food storage areas
  • You see wasps or hornets entering a building gap
  • You are buying, selling, or preparing a property
  • A rental property has a pest complaint

An inspection can help avoid guessing and make treatment more accurate.

What a Pest Inspection May Include

Depending on the issue, a pest inspection may include reviewing where activity has been seen, looking for signs of pest presence, checking likely entry points, inspecting food, moisture, or nesting conditions, reviewing crawlspaces, garages, sheds, kitchens, or storage areas where accessible, identifying likely pest type, recommending treatment or prevention steps, and advising on whether follow-up service is needed.

The inspection is tailored to the pest concern and the property.

Rodent Inspections

Rodent inspections may look for droppings, gnaw marks, rub marks, nesting material, burrows, entry points, food sources, crawlspace activity, garage access, and exterior conditions that may attract rats or mice.

A rodent inspection can help determine whether the issue is active, where rodents may be travelling, and what prevention steps may be needed.

Carpenter Ant Inspections

Carpenter ants should be inspected carefully because visible ants may not show the full extent of the problem. Inspection may focus on large black ants, sawdust-like material, damp wood, decks, crawlspaces, window frames, wall voids, and exterior trails.

The goal is to determine whether the activity is likely common ants or carpenter ants requiring a more focused treatment plan.

Bed Bug Inspections

Bed bug concerns can be difficult to confirm without inspection. Bites alone are not always reliable. A bed bug inspection may check mattress seams, bed frames, headboards, furniture, baseboards, cracks, and other hiding areas near where people rest.

If bed bugs are suspected, avoid moving belongings between rooms before the inspection.

Restaurant and Commercial Pest Inspections

Restaurants, cafés, and small businesses may need inspections for rodents, cockroaches, ants, pantry pests, or wasps. Commercial inspections may include food storage areas, kitchens, dish areas, waste areas, exterior doors, staff spaces, storage rooms, patios, and utility access points.

What to Prepare Before an Inspection

  • Note where activity has been seen
  • Save photos if available
  • Avoid disturbing nests or suspected harbourage areas
  • Avoid moving items between rooms if bed bugs are suspected
  • Keep any safe samples if practical
  • Mention pets, tenants, staff, or access concerns
  • Describe when the activity is most noticeable
