Wasps, hornets, yellowjackets, and bees are often confused. They are all flying insects, and some can sting, but they are not handled the same way.
Identification matters because Apollo Pest Control treats wasps, hornets, and yellowjackets, but does not treat bees.
If you are unsure what type of insect is present, avoid disturbing the nest and request an assessment.
Different insects behave differently, nest differently, and require different handling. Treating the wrong insect can create risk, especially if the nest is active or located inside a wall, soffit, or ground opening.

Photos can help if taken safely from a distance.
Wasps are often smooth-bodied and may be seen around rooflines, decks, sheds, patios, outdoor food, garbage, and wall gaps. They can become defensive near nests.
Common wasp nest areas include rooflines, soffits, decks, sheds, wall voids, trees and shrubs, ground openings, and outdoor dining and waste areas.
Hornets are closely related to wasps and may build larger nests in trees, shrubs, roofline areas, or protected outdoor spaces. They can be defensive when nests are disturbed.
A visible nest or repeated flight path to one area may indicate an active nest nearby.
Yellowjackets can be especially noticeable around food, sugary drinks, garbage, recycling, patios, and outdoor dining areas. They may also nest underground or inside hidden spaces.
Ground nests can be easy to disturb accidentally, especially near lawns, gardens, paths, or work areas.
Bees are important pollinators and are handled differently than wasps, hornets, and yellowjackets. Apollo Pest Control does not treat bees.
If bees are present, contact an appropriate beekeeper or bee removal professional.
